The Enfield Association of Voluntary Youth Clubs, (previously named Enfield Voluntary Youth Organisation), has been in existence for over 35 years working for the youth of Enfield.
The aim of the association is to bring together voluntary youth clubs and other youth organisations in a common effort to help and educate young people in the Borough of Enfield. To ensure equality of opportunity for all young people and to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities, that they grow to full maturity, so that the quality of life for themselves and for others may be improved.
Over the years it has now evolved into three main sections; Advisory; training and an awarding body.
Advisory will include assistance in forming a voluntary youth and all that entails, providing CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checks for all persons working with young people.
Child protection is of paramount importance and one of our key tasks for the coming year will be the promotion of Child Protection. To this end we are currently working towards being able to provide Police checks, at a nominal administration charge to our members, for all paid and voluntary staff working with young people. This facility will be available later this year.
All club leaders will be actively encouraged to attend training courses in child protection throughout the coming year. These courses will be free of charge, dates to be announced.
We provide free training courses in Child Protection, First Aid, Health and Safety, Risk assessment, Management of Conflict, Equal Opportunities, Disability Awareness.
Each year at our Annual General Meeting awards are presented to those young people as nominated by their clubs. They fall into the following categories:
The continuing success of the Merit Awards for young people is very pleasing and it is particularly encouraging to see the number of young leaders being nominated for awards. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all club leaders for all their hard work and without whose unselfish commitment the clubs would not exist. To this end we, as an Association, present Shields of Honour and Leadership Merit Award Certificates to those Young Leaders nominated for their outstanding leadership throughout the past year.
These awards are a small token of our appreciation for their unselfish hard work and achievements over long periods of time
